Description

This coffee comes from Gora, a Sub Bekele village where the Gora group of coffee growers is located. The village of Gora is part of the greater Bekele region called Uddo Hadamma. Kebele is similar to what we would call submunicipalities.

These natural processed beans came from the coop of 20 farmers whom all live in the village of Gora. All farmers grow the Gibirrina/Serto varieties (74110 & 74112), which are local varieties from Guji that have been selected for their disease-resistant properties (eg against coffee rust). The coffee grows under the foliage of local, native trees in a loamy soil, typical of the natural hills of Guji. Each farmer owns an average of 2.5 hectares of land on which coffee is grown exclusively. All farmers are trained in agronomy and post-harvest processing techniques by the “King of Guji”, Ture
Waji, who also manages the processing stations. Unique to these processing stations, including Gora’s, is the structured way of working: each day-lot is traced by means of labeling and is kept separate from each other. Each label describes the specific delivery time and drying start time, as well as the daily relative humidity values. This way they guarantee a slow, even drying, the fine quality and a long life of the coffee.
