The different 1Zpresso grinders
The 1Zpresso Q2 is the compact choice. It even fits inside an Aeropress!
The 38mm burrs aren’t super fast, but thanks to it’s compact design your hand fits around it easily which makes it really comfortable to use. Of all compact grinders available today we think this one is the best, definitely compared to ceramic burr grinders. The Q2 has an internal grind adjustment with 25 micron steps, and is therefore suited for both pour-overs and Flair espresso. Not suitable for semi-automatic espresso machines.
The 1Zpresso JXis the Q2’s big brother. Thanks to 48mm stainless steel burrs it’s super fast, in 30 seconds you can grind 20g for espresso of 30g for V60. The JX-burrs offer a great compromise between clean, complex flavors and a good body and mouthfeel.
Just like the Q2 the JX has a internal grind size adjustment with 25 micron steps, which makes it suitable for pour-overs and Flair espresso. Not suitable for semi-automatic espresso machines.
A 1Zpresso JX-pro is well equipped for all kinds of espresso machines, thanks to the 12,5 micron adjustment on the top side. Besides this it’s identical to the JX, with speedy burrs and a nice balance. This is the most allround 1Zpresso grinder and the bestseller for a good reason!
The Q2, JX and Jx-pro are delivered inside a cardboard box, but we have a carrying case available separately in our webshop.
The Plus-models (K-plus and JE-plus) come with a case included, and have other extra’s as well. Among others a bellow for easy cleaning, 2 elastic bands for extra grip and a magnetic grounds bin with 2 interchangeable bottoms; a regular flat bottom and one equipped with a ‘grounds shaker’ that fits both a 58mm portafilter as the Flair Pro2 funnel and portafilter.
The 1Zpresso K-plus is our favorite for pour-overs and cupping, but also an interesting choice for espresso. We call it the “flavor magnifying glass” for the very complex, rich flavors, ideal for exploring all nuances in a good specialty coffee. Many typical properties associated with a flat-burr grinder.
The outside adjustment ring with big numbers and 10 in-between 22 micron clicks is probably the easiest system around. Thanks to the relatively slim body and speedy burrs the K-plus also works for (Flair-) espresso without too much effort.
We have pulled interesting, clean shots with the K-plus and Flair 58 but for old-school espresso the JE-plus is probably the more logical choice.
The 1Zpresso JE-plus utilizes 47mm coated italmill burrs. These assure a very ‘smooth’ grinding experience. They grind easier compared to the more agressive JX- and K-burrs, but are also somewhat slower.
The result? A full body, creamy mouthfeel, and extra fines for a thick, syrupy espresso. You lose some complexity but for many espresso-lovers this is the grind profile they’re looking for.
The JE-plus has the same 12,5 micron top adjustment as the JX-pro and is perfect to dial in for espresso.
